Prince Charles and his wife Camilla began laughing uncontrollably during a performance by a pair of throat singers during their visit to Iqaluit, Nunavut on 29th June 2017.
“The British media weren’t impressed when Prince Charles and his wife Camilla had trouble controlling their laughter during a traditional throat singing ceremony in Iqaluit on Thursday.
“Prince Charles and wife Camilla (were) giggling like naughty schoolchildren,” said U.K. tabloid The Sun, regarding the couple’s conduct as they watched two Inuit women perform katajjaq, a traditional throat-singing activity often performed by a pair of females.
Sometimes, katajjaq ends with a performer giggling, but the royal attendees beat the performers to the laughing part, giggling throughout the performance.
In a video, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, seemingly covered her mouth in an attempt to control her laughter, while Prince Charles, more restrained, scratched his nose with a grimace as he chuckled.
The event caught the attention of the British media Tuesday. The Daily Mail dubbed Charles the “prince of wails,” while the London Evening Standard remarked that the couple “seemed like they needed a breather themselves.” The Daily Express called the display “embarrassing” conduct from the “future king.”
The couple was touring the country as part of the Canada 150 festivities.” (via thestar.com)
