Trollhunters Part 3 | Official Trailer

The Trollhunters are stronger than ever, but so are their enemies.

The fight to save humankind wages on in Part 3 of Trollhunters, dropping May 25 on Netflix.

Netflix and Dreamworks Animation announced new shows to be released in 2018, and a third and final season of the animated adventure series from Guillermo del Toro and Rodrigo Blaas is on the list.

In DreamWorks Trollhunters Part 3, the fate of troll and human civilizations hang in the balance. The Trollhunters are racing to stop Gunmar and the now resurrected Morgana from bringing about the Eternal Night and shrouding the world in darkness forever. To defeat them, the team must seek the help of the legendary wizard Merlin to unlock his ancient magic and unleash a powerful weapon that will alter the course of their lives forever.

Sadly, Season 3 will be the final season of Trollhunters, but the story of Arcadia won’t end there. In additition to Trollhunters Part 3, Dreamworks Animation and Netflix also confirmed that they will be releasing other stories in the Trollhunters universe.Mark Hamill is best known for playing cinema’s ultimate good guy in the “Star Wars” franchise. But as a voice actor, he’s played an impressive array of bad guys, from Batman’s complex arch-enemy the Joker to the comical Gadfly Garnett, the pink-hued thief in the Disney Junior series “Miles From Tomorrowland,” and many more in between.

Mark Hamill plays a villain who will be back to cause trouble for Guillermo del Toro’s “Trollhunters,” when Netflix premieres part three, the final season of the animated saga, on Friday. The DreamWorks Animation series follows a teenager who becomes the protector of a race of trolls and other fantastic creatures that live beneath his city. He’s aided in his quest by two of his high-school friends along with the trolls Aaarrgghh!!! (Fred Tatasciore) and the brainy Blinky, voiced by Kelsey Grammer.

“Kelsey has one of the greatest voices. I wasn’t imitating Kelsey, but I had to sound like his brother,” says Hamill, describing how he created Dictatious’ voice. He talked with the show’s creators and asked them if there was a character actor that would be a good basis for him to build Dictatious on. “They said George Sanders from ‘All About Eve’ and he was Mr. Freeze on the Adam West ‘Batman.’ He’s a wonderful character actor. I’m not really imitating him, but I’m channeling his sort of grandeur.”

“It’s such a great show for the whole family,” he says. “The way it effortlessly moves from these fantastical realms to suburbia, it seems so unique to me. It’s the perfect definition of escapist entertainment. With the world being as difficult as it is and the tragedies we see in the news, you need a safe place. That’s why people want to go to Hogwarts or the Land of Oz or Middle Earth or even a Galaxy Far Far Away. It’s just a respite from every day life,” he continues. “This show is just so much fun, not only to watch but to be a part of.”

3 Below is the second installment of the Tale of Arcadia Trilogy, which is apparently what we’re calling this shared fictional universe. It will premiere in late 2018 and feature two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard who flee a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator and crash land in Arcadia.

Emilie Hirsch will be sharing the role of Jim Lake, Jr. for Season 3. Anton Yelchin performed the role for the first two seasons, having recorded the material for Seasons 1 and 2 and part of Season 3 prior to his death in 2016.

The press release elaborates: “Del Toro and his creative team found a unique way to incorporate a voice transition organic to the story and create a path for a dear friend of Yelchin’s to carry on his legacy and role. Yelchin’s performance has been left intact where possible and some portions have been merged with Hirsch’s performance to complete season three.”

Tatiana Maslay and Diego Luna will be joining the Season 3 cast as Aja and Krel, two new students in Arcadia who will be joining the war against Lena Headey’s Morgana.
