Johnny Depp stars in up-and-coming filmmaker Wayne Roberts’ second feature film, titled The Professor. Ahead of next month’s premiere, Saban Films shares the official trailer for the dark comedy.
In The Professor, Depp portrays Richard, a college lecturer who finds out that he has six months to live due to a terminal illness. Instead of sulking and wasting away his final days, he decides to live life to the fullest. The shortened lifespan essentially transforms Richard into a party animal, much to the delight of his students, while his wife (played by Rosemarie DeWitt) and school chancellor (Ron Livingston) are noticeably taken back.
Written and directed by the aforementioned Wayne Roberts (Katie Says Goodbye), The Professor is produced by Warren Carr, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Greg Shapiro. Zoey Deutch, Danny Huston, Justine Warrington, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Kaitlyn Bernard, Odessa Young and Matreya Scarrwener also feature in the film, which comes to DIRECTV April 18 and releases in select theaters May 17.
