Sia is bringing some sunshine to the My Little Pony: The Movie soundtrack, with her uplifting new single “Rainbow”.
The Australian pop star eschews the vocal acrobatics of past hits like “Chandelier” in favor of a restrained hook and hypnotic beat, while still sounding as powerful and inspired as ever. She maintains the evenhanded, optimistic spirit that elevates her best songs, singing, “I can see a rainbow in your tears as the sun comes out.”
“Rainbow” will appear on the My Little Pony: The Movie soundtrack, which comes out next week and also includes music from DNCE and Lukas Graham, among others. Appropriately, the single artwork features a pony sporting Sia’s signature black-and-blonde wig.
It was announced earlier this summer that Sia contributes two songs to the soundtrack and has a role in the movie as the voice of Songbird Serenade.
