JAY-Z – Bam ft. Damian Marley

JAY-Z continues to follow the blueprint he mapped out for his latest album 4:44 by releasing his new video “BAM” featuring Damian Marley youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley on TIDAL on Friday (July 14).

The six-minute visual documents JAY-Z’s recent trip to Jamaica, where he recorded his reggae-tinged record with Jr. Gong. While roaming the streets with Marley, JAY gets several history lessons regarding the Caribbean country.

“The way the community is built, if you notice how the rooms all surround a courtyard setting, in the courtyard setting would be where a lot of the music was made,” Marley explains to Hov during their tour.

Last month, Marley detailed Hov’s visit to Jamaica in an interview with Billboard. “We took him around Trenchtown, which is a community that my father grew up in as a young man, and various other great reggae musicians,” he said. “We kind of walked him around that community a bit. We also went to a beach in Jamaica that’s very popular there called Hellshire Beach. It’s a very popular beach in Kingston.”

Throughout the video, JAY is spotted dishing out gems, in both the lyrical and educational form. “I feel like when I go to Africa, I feel like I’m with my people,” says Hov.

“BAM” serves as the third video released off of JAY-Z’s new album. The first two visuals were “The Story of O.J.” and “4:44,” which was released last week. “4:44” has also now been released on VEVO for everyone to watch.
