Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez were rumored to be dating in 2016, but he said at the time that they were just friends and collaborators. However, some fans think Charlie’s new video for “How Long” suggests otherwise.
Around two minutes and 20 seconds in, he stares at a painting of a woman on a wall. People couldn’t help but notice the resemblance between her and Selena. “She said, ‘Boy, tell me honestly, was it real or just for show?'” he sings.
Further evidence that things could’ve ended sourly between them: When a fan asked why Selena wasn’t in the video for “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” the song they collaborated on, Charlie tweeted, “We don’t talk anymore.” Shortly afterward, he unfollowed her on Instagram during her feud with Justin Bieber. Then, this January, he tweeted that he “really really messed it up with this one girl” who was “a good singer.”
Who knows if the video or any of these references are really about Selena, but they certainly have left people wondering.
