Last year, Sam Smith released his album The Thrill Of It All, with songs such as “Too Good at Goodbyes” and “Pray” among its hits. Now, down a narrow street in Verona, Italy, Smith’s performs another one of the album’s tracks alongside backup singers.
The performance, uploaded to YouTube, is a live, acoustic rendition of “Baby, You Make Me Crazy,” featuring Smith singing lyrics such as “So I’m gonna play my favourite rhythm / Got to get you out my system / I would do anything to keep you off my mind / I’m gonna have to call my sisters / Be around the ones who listen / Anything to drown you out tonight.”
It’s a beautiful, simple performance accompanied by a single guitarist.
This isn’t the first time Smith’s impressed us with a live vocal: in 2017, Smith sang a slow version of Disclosure’s “Latch” at a wedding. He also took on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke and performed “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
