Kelly Clarkson has dropped the visual accompaniment to “Meaning of Life,” the title track off her eighth studio album. The single, an ode to an estranged lover, is a powerful soul-pop record, and the video follows Clarkson as she wanders around a gorgeous dim-lit mansion, singing about her past heartbreak. Clarkson debuted the video on Mother’s Day (May 13).

At the halfway mark, the setting bursts into color, with Clarkson belting her heart out as she is surrounded by a full band and back-up singers. The video concludes with Clarkson shimmering in a golden light as she sings about the powerful love of her children. Her son and daughter play around her and run into her arms before the song bursts into the final chorus.
Clarkson is also scheduled to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on May 20.
