Jaden Smith – Watch Me

Jaden Smith has more fire on deck than his latest look. Today (July 28), the eclectic artist and rapper debuts the video for his latest track “Watch Me” via Roc Nation. The video finds Smith at his most aggressive, with savage delivery.

Smith pairs the guitar-driven production with rock star lines like, “See me dancing like Elvis / Just tell your man that it’s all in the pelvis.” The track is full of classic-rock ties — like the hook’s Elvis Presley name drop — but the video adds perhaps the greatest visual cue, with the sexy 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible accompanying Smith in the background.

The video, directed by Shomi Patwary (Vic Mensa, Belly), continues Smith’s penchant for stunning panoramic shots and color-palette experimentation, much like the vibey video for “Fallen” earlier this year. Patwary uses psychedelic colors and distortions to add to the mystique of the vast California desert backdrop.

The young fashion mogul embraces the “Watch me!” chorus by dressing the part, with Louis Vuitton boots, En Noir pants with custom patch work, a shirt from his own MSFTSrep brand, and the soon-to-be-iconic jacket by Ja’Caius.

The video ends with Jaden on the ground, after giving us seemingly everything he has. But with the flash of the bright yellow “SYRE,” it’s clear that we can expect much more from the multi-faceted artist. Jaden Christopher Syre Smith is an is the son of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. Jaden Smith’s first movie role was with his father in the 2006 film ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’.
