In a Heartbeat – Animated Short Film

A schoolboy’s same-sex crush has gone viral after tugging on the heartstrings of people all over the world.
The film, ‘In a Heartbeat’, is a four-minute-long passion project from Esteban Bravo and Beth David, two computer animation students at the Ringling College of Art and Design.
A trailer first went out after a Kickstarter page by Bravo and David surged past its $3,000 funding goal, and raised more than $14,000 in total.

It follows a young closeted boy who, according to the film’s description, ‘runs the risk of being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams’.
Speaking to NBC News, Bravo and David said the film was inspired buy their own experiences, adding that In a Heartbeat is the sort of film they’d wished was made when they were growing up.

‘The original pitch was a story between a boy and a girl,’ David told the broadcaster. ‘But it wasn’t until we made it about a same-gender crush that the idea really started to take form and resonate with Esteban and I.
‘We realised that we had something that could potentially be really special to us.’
