Following the release of a Ted Bundy true crime documentary on Netflix, the first trailer for the Ted Bundy biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile has dropped, starring Zac Efron as the notorious serial killer, which follows Bundy’s crimes, trial, and incarceration.
The film is captured from the perspective of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, portrayed by Lily Collins, as she discovers the horrible things her boyfriend has done. The trailer sets the scene in 1969 Seattle with the beginning of their relationship, which then turns horrific as it shows Bundy carrying out his crimes, while living a seemingly normal life with his wife.
The trailer essentially paints Ted Bundy as a pathological liar, and a person who loved the attention of the media, as he says at one point in the trailer, “I’m more popular than Disney World.”
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile also stars John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, Kaya Scodelario and Haley Joel Osment. The film is slated to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend, however, a cinematic release date has yet to be confirmed.
