Ben Stiller Tackles Parenthood in the Heartfelt Holiday Film Nutcrackers

Ben Stiller takes on a chaotic yet heartwarming challenge in the trailer for Hulu’s upcoming holiday film, Nutcrackers. Directed by David Gordon Green, the movie is set to premiere on the streaming platform on Nov. 29, following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

The film stars Stiller as Mike, a workaholic who finds himself unexpectedly caring for his four unruly nephews after they are orphaned just weeks before Christmas. Alongside Stiller, the cast features Linda Cardellini, Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, Toby Huss, and real-life siblings Homer, Ulysses, Atlas, and Arlo Janson as the mischievous boys.

In the trailer, Mike arrives in a small rural town to temporarily look after the children until a foster family can be arranged. “I’m here now to look after you, get you guys hooked up with a family,” he tells the boys. As the nephews test his patience, Mike pleads with them, “Act like normal children, OK? I’m trying to find you a good home.”

Green, known for his work on The Exorcist: Believer, the Halloween reboot trilogy, and Pineapple Express, directs the film from a script by Leland Douglas. Producers include Nate Meyer, Rob Paris, and Mike Witherill.

Nutcrackers offers a blend of comedy and emotion, with The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney describing it as “not exactly robust as uplifting family comedies go,” but noting its touching emotional payoff for those willing to embrace Green’s laid-back storytelling style.

This project adds to Stiller’s diverse resume, including his role as director and executive producer of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series Severance, which returns for a second season on Jan. 17, 2025.

Get ready to laugh and maybe shed a tear when Nutcrackers arrives just in time for the holidays.
