Belle and Sebastian have released an unofficial theme song for the 2016 Rio Olympics. It’s called “Olympic Village, 6am” and it’s accompanied by a video of BBC archive footage featuring Olympic moments cut together with shots of frontman Stuart Murdoch running. (The band are longtime outspoken fans of track and field.)
On their Youtube channel they say, “Belle and Sebastian dig the Olympics, love the Olympic ideal, love that the world gets together for a big ‘sports day’ once every four years. We can’t be part of it, though we’d like to be.”
