From the executive producer of Blue Planet II comes OUR GREAT NATIONAL PARKS, a breathtaking exploration of protected wilderness co produced and hosted by President Barack Obama – who protected more public lands and waters than any other U.S. President in history – and along with Netflix he invites viewers to experience nature in the world’s most iconic national parks. Spanning five continents, the series brims with wonder, humor, and optimism as each episode tells the story of a national park through the lives of its wildest residents — both big and exceptionally small — and explores our changing relationship with nature.

Traveling from the waters of Monterey Bay, California, to the bright red soil of Kenya’s Tsavo National Park, the lush rainforests of Indonesia’s Gunung Leuser National Park, the majestic terrain of Chilean Patagonia, and more, OUR GREAT NATIONAL PARKS beckons us to get out and explore, create new ways for these wild places to thrive, and vigorously preserve them for future generations to come.

During his presidency, Barack proposed a climate action plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, help preserve forests, encourage the use of alternate fuels, and increase the study of climate change. Under his leadership, the United States did more to combat climate change than it had ever before, per the White House, and since he took office, carbon emissions “decreased 9 percent, while the U.S. economy grew more than 10 percent.”

“Hanauma Bay is one of my favorite spots in the world. I grew up in Hawaii, and this was my backyard. My love of the natural world began here, When I was growing up, wild spaces and everyday spaces, they were one in the same: an essential part of our lives. I wanna make sure that the world’s wild spaces are there for my kids and my grandkids.” – Barack Obama

The series promises to take viewers into not only America’s national parks, but also the many marvelous protected areas across the globe, and to highlight underappreciated species, which, if kept safe, could help save the planet.

The Wild for All Challenge encourages people to spend more time outside, embrace clean energy, and prioritize nature in any way they can.
